Fantasy football owners were very pleased with Puka Nacua last week.

Last Monday night, Los Angeles Rams star wide receiver Puka Nacua caught 17 of 24 targets for 138 yards and a touchdown. Even though the Buffalo Bills beat them in overtime, you can't ignore Nacua's volume.

Twenty-four targets isn't just a lot; it's the second-biggest target night since 1999. Matthew Stafford, the Rams quarterback, threw it 54 times, completed 40 for 383 yards and still lost.

There have been eight instances of 17 or more reception games since 1999, all in the regular season. This list has some noteworthy names, including the likes of Hall of Famer Terrell Owens (2000), alongside elite pass catchers Brandon Marshall, Jason Witten and Antonio Brown.

Since 1999, exactly eight games have produced 17 or more receptions by one player; Puka Na

Before this season (2026), the shortest spacing between two of these games was 455 days (Marshall to Marshall). Ceedee Lamb-to-Nacua was only eight days. 2026 is the only season with two players.

Nacua's 138 yards is the fewest ever in a 17+ catch game, 8.12 yards per catch, both at the bottom of the eight.

Nacua's 8.12 yards per catch is the lowest of the eight 17+ reception games since 1999

Nacua's 17 catches aded little to the Rams' scoring chances.

His receiving expected points added (EPA) of +4.49 is the lowest of the eight by a clear margin — Witten's +6.14 is next; Owens's 2000 game was +21.50.

Ten of the 17 catches went for first downs; the air yards (184) were there, the yards after catch (81) were not. Compared with Lamb a week ago: 17 receptions for 189 yards and +13.61 EPA on three fewer targets.

Teams are 4-4 in these eight games, so a monster day from a receiver is not the deciding factor for a victory - but this is the second-lowest yardage in a loss.

Nacua's high volume is something that fans are used to. In his rookie season in 2023, he set NFL rookie records for receptions (105) and receiving yards (1,486). He leads every receiver since 1999 with 40 or more games with receptions per game (7.32) and receiving yards (97.8) in 53 games. It is a small sample size compared to the others, but still eye-opening.

Nacua also leads all wide receivers with 40+ games since 1999 in receiving yards per game

He's also one of seven players with multiple 15-or-more-catch games since 1999; his first came in Week 2 of his rookie season in 2023.

Last week's efficiency was an outlier, but the volume wasn't.

Nacua continues to prove that he can create separation and make it easier for Stafford to feed him the ball, and drive defensive coordinators crazy in the process.

Through five games this season (appearing in three), Nacua has 31 receptions for 337 yards and one touchdown. The Rams have a juicy matchup at home this week against the Arizona Cardinals, who are at the bottom of the league in pass defense, allowing 8.0 to 9.1 yards per pass attempt.

It won't shock anyone if Nacua replicates his numbers from last week.
