Duke has not beaten Georgia Tech since 2019.

That might be surprising considering the Blue Devils won five of the previous six meetings. But since their 41-23 victory seven years ago, the series has shifted decidedly in Georgia Tech's favor.

The Yellow Jackets have won four straight, including three games decided by single digits. On Saturday, Duke travels to Atlanta looking to end that streak, with both teams entering the matchup under considerably different circumstances.

Duke is 4-0 so far this season, averaging 36.3 points per game while allowing just 11. Meanwhile, Georgia Tech is 1-3, averaging 27 points scored and 26 allowed.

The undefeated start follows the winningest four-year stretch in program history, during which Duke compiled 35 victories from 2022 through 2025. That run culminated in the Blue Devils' first outright ACC Championship since 1962 last season.

Yet even during one of the most successful stretches in program history, Georgia Tech has remained a problem Duke hasn't solved.

Georgia Tech's 56-33 victory in 2020 was the only decisive result during its four-game winning streak. In 2021, Duke lost 31-27 despite producing 522 yards of offense, including 230 rushing yards. The following season, the Blue Devils fell 23-20, before losing 27-18 when the teams met again in 2025.

Across those four losses, Duke was outscored by 39 points, and more than half of that margin came from the 2020 matchup alone.

This season, Duke's statistical profile looks considerably different than Georgia Tech's.

The Blue Devils are averaging 232.5 rushing yards per game, nearly 88 more than the Yellow Jackets' 145. Duke also holds a 9.3-point advantage in scoring average, despite Georgia Tech averaging more passing yards per game.

The largest difference, however, is on defense.

Georgia Tech is allowing 26 points per game, compared to Duke's 11. That 15-point gap is particularly significant considering three of the last four meetings were decided by nine points or fewer.

Of course, early-season averages do not account for differences in opponents or strength of schedule. And Duke's statistical advantages offer no guarantee that Saturday will produce a different result.

But the matchup presents an interesting reversal. From 2014 through 2019, Duke controlled the series, winning five of six games. Since 2020, Georgia Tech has won every time.

Now, the Blue Devils enter with the stronger statistical profile, while the Yellow Jackets carry the recent head-to-head advantage.

Saturday will determine whether Duke can turn that statistical edge into its first victory of Georgia Tech in seven years.
