With just a handful of games left in the 2026 WNBA season, the Dallas Wings have clinched a playoff spot on the back of Paige Bueckers’ efficient shooting season. Her 50.5% two point accuracy is the best any guard has ever posted on volume.

Since the advent of the WNBA, there have been exactly eight 20 point, 5 assist seasons. Diana Taurasi did it twice and Caitlin Clark is on the verge of hitting those marks this season. Paige is doing it with incredible shooting efficiency as a guard. She’s the only one to do it with 50% shooting.

If you relax the requirement to just 20 point average with 50% shooting, the record books are filled with the legendary forwards and centers of WNBA history: Fowles, Cambage, Griner, Wilson, Stewart and Collier. Bueckers is the first backcourt player to get in the door and she brought 5.9 assists with her.

The best two-point shooting guard

Paige’s efficiency with a 55.2% success rate on 411 two pointers is the highest two point percentage by any guard with 350+ attempts ever. Just ahead of Kelsey Mitchell’s 55% and Cappie Pondexter at 50.4% in 2010. And it looks like this will be a normal occurance. Her 51.8% as a rookie is already 4th on the same list. Fluke arrival? No way. It will be curious to see what her 2027 leap ends up after jumping 3.4% this year.

A historical season of efficiency

Of note, 2026 is the most efficient shooting season in league history. The 45.26% this season league-wide is the highest season ever.

The fine print

With the 2026 season still in progress, we need to check back at the end of the schedule in September. Averages can and will move over the final weeks.

What’s next for Bueckers?

2026 has been a great season thus far for Buckers and the Wings. The playoffs await. But no one can deny that right now, statistically, she’s the most accurage high-usage playmaker ever.
